It’s true and I readily admit it. I am an Endorphin Junkie! Yep! No if, ands or buts about it. I mean it’s only obvious – the days I work out and “move” my body are some of my best days ever. The days I don’t make time or “skip” it – I tend to experience a lackluster sort of day. So here’s the crazy part – if I know this – why would I ever “skip” my own workouts. GRRRRRR. Well, that’s where I am at today. I have realized for the umpteenth time that when I miss a workout – I am less productive, less energetic, less lovely to be around (incorrect grammar I am sure), less of the ME I want to be – so therefore – I have made a promise to myself that I shall make no more excuses for missing workouts. Even if it is just 10-15 minutes of KOR+ (my signature workout) or yoga or jumping rope, I must do something each day to release endorphins and increase my heart rate and hopefully “break a sweat”!
I bring this whole subject up because I suspect, heck – I KNOW, there are many of you out there who have the same experience. So, acknowledge it and make peace with it… you are addicted to that release of endorphins, or maybe it’s just the rush of adrenaline with a good “pump” from lifting weights, or even just the love of a great sweat…but whatever it is – embrace it. Make no excuses, don’t be embarrassed (I used to feel guilty for being so into my workouts) and most of all – do not SKIP IT! Get in, Get it done and Get out!

WHAT’S AT YOUR CORE?
YAY!!! Finally, I think I have landed in a fairly permanent location for the remainder of summer and fall. Depending on the reception to my classes being offered at this location, this may become the KOR+ and RK Fitness main Hamptons site. The new location is perfectly located off the “beaten path” in Sag Harbor. This fabulously semi private studio is the perfect training facility for the type of workout and philosophy I believe in when it comes to training. ”Less is more” – “functional training is key” and “get in, get it done and get out” and finally “get outside the four walls (the gym) as often as you can!”
Studio 89 will be our new home base for all boot camps and KOR+ classes I will be offering in the Hamptons. With it’s newly designed obstacle course complete with running track and military type obstacles, Studio 89 couldn’t be a better choice for me. Please keep a look out for our new schedule at Studio 89 beginning the week of August 9th, 2010.
“Come find The Power of You® with our KOR+ Technique. We will also be offering a 4 week KOR+ Boot Camp starting in mid August. No more excuses to not get into the best shape ever, led by the Hamptons “Best of the Best” personal trainer Rebecca Kordecki at a fraction of the cost of her one on one training sessions”.

So after much thought given to the name of the workout – my team and I came to the decision that to really honor the integrity and intensity of this workout I created three years ago, the name would have to change. I have struggled for a while with this issue as to rebrand isn’t easy, but also, after being intertwined with something for 3+ long years, you grow accustomed to a name. Yes, from the first day I launched the class, I was skeptical of the name as it is slightly controversial and doesn’t really explain “what it is”, but so many urged me to keep it, saying “it’s catchy”, ”controversy is good”, “it’s cute…it’s a double entendre – your working your booty and wearing a booty”. Yet when it comes down to it, there really isn’t anything cute or funny at all about this workout. It’s intense, it’s functional, it’s efficient …and it most definitely works! So with that said, here’s one fan of the new name change giving her two cents about the workout! She hates the name but loves the workout http://www.socialworkout.com/workout/2010/07/18/booty-slide-ridiculous-name-really-hard-workout
The new name officially becomes KOR+ (pronounced KOR PLUS) at the end of this week. Below is the new logo. Hope you all like it.

Okay, so you all know that of course I am a huge fan of my own “zero impact” workout – Booty Slide® – soon to be officially renamed KOR+, but in addition to my creation, two other fabulous workouts you can do to strengthen, tone and burn calories are Spinning and water workouts. Between these three workouts – your body will love you for giving it a break from things like running and other high impact cardio classes. If you have any joint issues at all, i.e., pain associated with movements when doing your normal training routines, why not give one or all of the above a try? What have you got to lose except a few moans and groans as your joints suffer through your typical workouts. Coming soon – I am putting together a 30 day ZERO IMPACT – highly aerobic and strength building routine that will incorporate all the above workouts. If you want more info about any of these workouts now – send me an email here. Till then …easy does it – we only get one body – treat it right!

This is just my two cents on all the excuses I hear for not having time or energy to workout.
In my humble opinion there really is NO excuse – If you want something bad enough – there is always a way to achieve it. So pick something you enjoy, whether it’s indoors or outdoors – whether it’s a class I teach or on your own – whether you are using equipment or not using equipment – BUT JUST MOVE YOUR BODY! We only get one chance to do this life – it is not a rehearsal! So choose something you can sustain for 30-60 minutes 4-5 times a week and do it. Commit and Move!

What is All the Fuss About Spinning?
Aren’t you sick and tired of the same old aerobic exercises that always leave you wanting more? Are you looking for something that gives you that endorphin rush similar to running, but without all the pain to your joints? If you answered yes to either of these questions maybe it’s time you tried the latest hot fitness craze, Spinning®. It’s been around for over 15 years, created by Johnny G the amazing South African cyclist, but lately it seems that there has been a sort of Spinning Revival. Let’s see what all this fuss is about.
If you’ve been to mall lately looking for that perfect bathing suit for summer or the perfect pair of jeans for an upcoming night out and you’ve left in frustration because – trying to find a fit that hides this bit “here” and that bit “there” just wasn’t happening -wouldn’t it just be easier to lose those extra “bits? Enter Spinning – one of the best and quickest ways to those extra pounds and turn up the heat on your fitness level!
Spinning (with its non-competitive atmosphere) allows you to set your own pace, push yourself when and where you can! Easy on the body and the joints – you can be the master of your bike in as little as ten minutes. Be sure when choosing a studio to try your first SPIN class you look for a studio reputable teachers and a professional environment. If you are on the East Coast, studios like Flywheel Sports (www.flywheelsports.com) in NYC and B East (www.eastfit.com) in Amagansett offer you a great atmosphere to push your mental and physical limits with excellent guidance and instruction along the way!
Your first SPIN class may be a bit challenging, but whatever you do, stick with it and get the most out of it. If nothing else, when you step off the bike you will feel a surge of energy and a bit of a bounce in your step. Keep coming back and there is no limit to how good you will look and feel.
What to Expect? In a typical SPIN class, the instructor will be in front of the room spinning with you. If it’s your first time spinning, make sure that you show up early to meet the instructor, let them know you are new, so that they can set you up properly on your bike. Proper set up is KEY. The workout begins with a 5-10 minute warm-up period, followed by a 25-30 minute base class – followed by a 5-10 minute cool down and stretch (typically and preferably off the bike). The entire class usually lasts 45 minutes. Since you are spinning indoors, the instructor may use a lot of visualization taking you “out on the road” as if on a real ride. It’s up to you to let go and feel the road. You can imagine your own road as you ride or just choose to focus on each pedal stroke. But whatever you choose, let your body and mind fully engage and find a synergy with the bike. The experience will be fuller if you are able to do this.
So if you are looking for a great new way to get in shape – whether it’s summer, winter or spring wherever you are, you must give Spinning® a try. You and your body will be glad you did. And remember that bathing suit or jeans you passed on – they will be calling your name!

Okay so I admit it – feeling a bit stumped by the whole blogging thing. When I created this new website last December – the main reason I changed the site was because I wanted to become a “real” blogger. I have LOTS to say about lots of things – so I was eager to get the site up and running. So now that the site has been up for 6 months and as I look back over my blogging track record – I realize I fell short of my goal. Ouch! I hate doing that. I am a very goal oriented and driven woman – why can’t I do this simple task of blogging a couple of times a week. Especially when I do have so much to say? After a bit of reflection on the matter – I have surmised that it must be as simple as fear of rejection. What? Did I really just say that? YEP! I have it too, even though I am an accomplished fitness personality – and people come to me to help them turn their issues with weight and in some cases self image around – I suffer from this too! I guess what it boils down to is my fear of: what if no one reads my blog, what if people think I am an awful writer, what if I make ignorant commentaries, what if – what if – what if!? Ah ha! And there it is, the nugget I need to turn this whole thing around – SO WHAT! Just do it…just write….just express…just contribute – and even if I fail (which ultimately is subjective anyhow) – who cares. At least I committed and at least I took action. The best news about failing (for me anyways) – is that I hate to – so it only makes me get up and try harder. Which eventually leads to success! One of my favorite sayings is “Every time we make a mistake in life and admit it… we grow. Be sure to make lots of them and your growth will be monumental”. So there it is – my Sunday Morning Confession – hmmmm, which as I write that might just be a fun theme for the blog I will now re-commit to doing once a week. I apologize in advance if some days I am at the top of my game and others, well – let’s just say I might be shooting blanks. But either way – I will put my fingers on this keypad and see what I can manifest – and maybe, just maybe it will be something that resonates with some of you out there in cyber space.
